Strategies to help today's working families in Northeast CT, MA and RI.

The Organization

There are so many books and materials out for parents now that you can go to any Barnes and Noble and find 100 different experts giving you 100 different methods. They say that variety is the spice of life and there is something for everyone. But what do you do if you have a question? What do you do if you implement a strategy and it doesn’t work quite as you thought it would? They don’t offer customer service. This is why JMHaines Parent Education was designed. We wanted to add the human element to presenting ideas, strategies, and routines to those that needed it. Many companies now have customer service based in other countries. We’ve all pressed 2, thinking we would get a real person to talk to, only to be passed on to another automated menu.

JMHaines PE was designed for those parents who are struggling with a certain situation, or would like to embrace a different method of learning. While we work directly with parents, the impact of these changes will benefit the entire family. It starts with the belief in communication. Open and honest communication builds bridges. When a family is unable to talk freely, walls are built. People today have lives that are busier than ever before but the fundamental challenge of caring for children has not changed.

Many of our strategies and lessons come from the work of Bill Corbett. He further developed the teachings of psychologists Alfred Adler and Rudolph Dreikurs. Adler brought forth the notion that children should have a voice within the home. When they are given an opportunity to find their place within the family it is less likely that a child will develop neuroses as adults. Dreikurs then followed up with his own work building on Adler. He said that children’s misbehavior was a direct result of wanting to be a valuable member of the family as well as other social experiences. In other words, when a child is feeling fulfilled by their place within the family you see more examples of cooperation. Bill Corbett has taken the research by these two and built it into a methodology that treats the child with respect.

The full Love, Limits, & Lessons can be taught as a 9 hour class by JMHaines Parent Education. We also break specific lessons down to match what our client needs. In addition to the Cooperative Kids framework we add the nearly 15 years of experience as a nanny, public school teacher, as well as an Early Education teacher and the hundreds of families I have dealt with over the years.

It comes down to you. It comes down to your family. We are here to present a different way of communicating and at times discovering that less can be more. Sometimes we as caregivers need to let our children do the talking and simply be there for them. Built on integrity and honed by experience. If you have a need for our services, or just a question, please don’t hesitate to call JMHaines Parent Education.

"No one has yet fully realized the wealth of sympathy, kindness and generosity hidden in the soul of a child. The effort of every true education should be to unlock that treasure." ~Emma Goldman
